Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park was very dusty and dry, It was actually very sad to drive along and see how little the animals have to eat in this area. Everyone here is looking forward to the rains. Right now the animals are scarce due to lack of food, but let me tell there is an abundance of Tetse Fly's and oh my, can they bite.

Bruce and I have bites all over us. They are bigger than what I thought, They look like an oversized mosquito, with a striped body like a wasp, and when they bite it is more like a bee sting than a mosquito bite. The bite is very itchy after.

This young male was taking it easy in the afternoon heat.
This is a Waterbuck, They look very much like our deer only a heavier coat.
Banded Mongoose, There are hundreds of Mongoose throughout Tanzania, there are two kinds, the Banded Mongoose and the Dwarf Mongoose. They are like our gophers. They sit up like little soldiers looking around and are very fast when anyone or anything gets near to them, so it was hard to get a good photo of one. And as you all know a photographer I am not.
